So, books lovers, have you ever walked into a bookstore and felt so overwhelmed at the selection available? I do this everytime. I will walk in knowing what genre I feel comfortable reading, and walk out with several others. Then naahh…usually some of these I put down half way through because they have lost my interest and I'm left feeling disappointed that I spent my money on it ( lucky to those who got BB1M books voucher with them :/ )  And others I end up passing around to all my friends and family with high recommendations. HAHA.. GOTCHA! You did right??

So now…let me help you..! Using the following tips below, you will find it much easier in choosing a good book to read…

First and foremost~

 Use the New York Times Bestseller List for a guide

This is a great paper to peruse in your spare time. But when it comes to their bestseller book lists it is fantastic for lovers of books and for choosing a good book. They have CHAPTER REVIEWS as well! So you are able to read the first chapter and decide if you're going to enjoy the book or not. This is an excellent reference for choosing a good book. You may VIEW THE BESTSELLER LIST and see what others are reading, what is selling well, and what has stayed in the charts for a long period of time. East right?

As a follow up to using the New York Times and choosing the book you would like to read more about, go to www.amazon.com and find it there. Amazon not only has popular books, but has reviews made by people who have read it. You can choose top rated books by readers~~Another great resource for choosing a good book~~  Not only does it have reviews, but it will also tell you what other books readers have selected to read and enjoy. Amazon is a wealth of knowledge in regards to choosing a good book to read. You will find several more books that you would like to add to your list after viewing Amazon ;0

Choose from Genres you know

As the old saying goes, when you're onto a good thing, stick with it! Listen to your heart. Stick to what you enjoy. Go to the section (of that genre of book you want to read) of your local bookstore and read the bookstore recommendations. You will find that the assistants are usually have a great knowledge of the selection of books in their store. Find what is popular, or what customers are buying and recommending. If you are trying to step out of your comfort zone of good books and genres you normally read, ask the assistant as to what is popular in the chosen genre. Okay? ;)

It is a great idea to purchase a book regarding what mood you are currently in. You don't want to read sad tales if you have just had a relationship breakup or are recently divorced. Books are a great way of escaping the realities of our busy lives, so when we choose a book we want to thoroughly enjoy it. If you're in the mood for a good scary book or ghost story, choose one of them, but don't if you're easily frightened or the book will keep you awake all night and you cannot function the next day. (oppss!)  If you're feeling a bit down, choose a book that is motivational or uplifting. By choosing a book and taking into account the mood you are in, or what you're in the mood to read, will heighten the reading experience in the end.

Choose Popular and Well Known Authors

In choosing popular authors, it is the same as choosing a book in the genre you know. Choosing a book because of who the author is, is great when you enjoy their writing. If an author can take you away into that other place, are easy to read and keep you interested from page 1 to page 400, they have done their job properly.
